SPECIALIST agricultural accountants Moore Thompson, from Wisbech, Spalding and Market Deeping, are backing a government drive to get more young people involved in farming.
The Future of Farming Group, recently unveiled by Farming Minister and South East Cambs MP Jim Paice, will look at ways to break down barriers to allow more talented and entrepreneurial youngsters to make careers out of farming.
Andrew Heskin, a partner in the firm’s farming sector team, said: “It is crucial that we get more young talented and business-minded people into the farming industry if it is to thrive in the future.
“With the right help and support, there is no reason why young people can’t develop great careers in the agricultural sector and become the business leaders of the future.
“The farming industry has been one of the successes of the last couple of years, defying the economic downturn. There are many opportunities out there for young people to carve successful careers in the industry.”
The Future of Farming Group will be chaired by David Fursdon, current chair of the South West Rural and Farming Network and former President of the Country Land and Business Association.
