A Wisbech artist has had her work showcased in a brochure publicising a leading exhibition in London.

Out of thousands of entries, the work of Lucille Carter has been chosen to be included in the brochure for the Society of Botanical Artists annual exhibition in Westminster.
Her picture of a dandelion on a black background is among around 700 images within the glossy brochure for the exhibition at the Westminster Gallery that runs until May 18.
It is the 15th year that Mrs Carter has had her work exhibited in the event.
She said: “I was delighted that they chose my work like that, it’s the first time I have painted using a black background so it is quite an unusual picture for me.”
Mrs Carter is the former landlady of the West End pub in Wisbech, the Woodman’s Cottage in Gorefield, the Woolpack in Terrington St John and most recently, the former Wisbech Arms, renamed W4 by Lucille and her husband Barry.
A former art teacher, she took up botanical painting when she was at the Woodman’s Cottage. “A customer told me to go and look at the Society of Botanical Artists’ exhibition in London, and that inspired me to join,” she said.
