Four friends clambered over 12 foot walls, waded through freezing water and even braved electrocution to complete a gruelling assault course and raise more than £1,500 for three charities.
Rebecca Knight, Lauren Mowbray, Lauren Tawn and Louise Culley, all of Wisbech, took part in the Tough Mudder event in Cirencester Park, Gloucestershire.
The money they raised will be split between MacMillan Cancer Support, The Samaritans and Help for Heroes.
Rebecca Knight chose to run for MacMillan Cancer Support because her mother Julie Knight was diagnosed with bowel cancer two years ago. She has since been given the all clear.
She said: “We had been doing bootcamps since March to get ready for it. The course was 11.5 miles and it took us three and three quarter hours. The obstacles were ok but running through mud was very difficult. It’s not like running on concrete.
“But is such a good team event where everyone helps everyone. I would definitely do it again. It was such a buzz when we finished.”
