Charity runners at Wisbech Grammar School have charged into the record books to hand a top total of £2,335 to Cancer Research UK.
A giant field of more than 200 runners, including pupils, Old Wisbechians, parents, teachers and kitchen staff and entrants from the preparatory school, Magdalene House, turned out for the five-kilometre Race at your Place in the grounds of the school.
Their efforts topped the previous year’s record high by £1,000.
First home was fifth form pupil Jacob Kelman, 16, who completed the course in 19 minutes 20 seconds.
Music was supplied by the school’s steel band, with the Friends of Wisbech Grammar School laying on a barbecue.
