Four Wisbech Grammar School teachers who have clocked up 120 years of service between them have been presented with gifts to mark their departure.

The long-serving staff leaving include physics teacher and acting head of physics Bryan Wiles (33 years), senior tutor, examinations officer and chemistry teacher Andrew Ayres (31 years), mathematics teacher and assistant examinations officer Zillah Booth (29 years) and chemistry and biology teacher Miriam Calton (27 years).

A long-standing leader of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award at the school, Mary Barrington, is also among the leavers.

At a ceremony staged to mark their farewells they were joined by headmaster Nicholas Hammond, who is leaving the school after six years to become headmaster of The British School of Paris and his wife, Nathalie, who has served as the academic secretary.

Also moving on are head of sixth form Deiniol Williams, Spanish teacher Jane Braybrook, examinations secretary and charities coordinator Jan Wildman, design and technology teacher Thomas Banham and boys’ physical education and games coach Adrian Tomlins.

Another long-serving leaver is Magdalene House preparatory school classroom assistant Sarah Kennaway (30 years).
