COMPETITIVE students tried to pull their way to glory as Wisbech Grammar School held its annual tug of war competition.
Senior students from the school’s four houses were cheered on by their fellow pupils as they battled to produce the best of three tugs in the mixed-gender event organised by sports teacher Dominic Garfoot.
In a tense finale, Peckover snatched a narrow win over their closest rivals, Sparks, by seven pulls to six and took the ‘tough-guy’ title for the second year in a row.
Tim Chapman, head of houses at the school, said: “This was a very enjoyable morning that brought the whole school together, staff and pupils, as the teams tugged for all they were worth.”
