Year 2 children at Orchards Church of England Primary School, Wisbech, dressed up in traditional costumes, built Victorian school houses and learnt about what it was like to live through the Crimean War.

After receiving a letter from Thomas Edison and Joseph Swann, they designed and invented a lamp for Florence Nightingale that used an electrical circuit and light bulb.

Year 2 teacher Miss Cunningham said: “A fantastic day was had by all. I was really pleased with the effort the children and parents went to with their Victorian costumes.

“We can’t wait to do it all again next year.”
