A Wisbech student has been named the ‘Apprentice of the Year’ for Anglian Water at the College of West Anglia’s (CWA) awards ceremony.
Lukasz Gogol scooped the award after completing his City and Guilds certificate in construction at the Wisbech college.
A spokesman for Anglian Water said: “We’re extremely proud to have supported Lukasz and all the other students and apprentices who have come through this scheme - they are developing valuable skills which will support our region’s infrastructure and economy for years to come.”
Lukasz said: “The course that I went on was the Construction Level 2 course. I chose it simply because it was just a huge opportunity.”
Talking after his award win, Lukasz said: “It has made me feel great; it’s made me feel recognised within the company as well.”
Michael Burke, Lukasz’s mentor and supervisor, said: “Lukasz winning Apprentice of the Year is quite an achievement really and I’m so proud of him, the way he’s conducted himself over the past six months and how much he’s grown as a person.”
Lukasz added: “So this apprenticeship has changed my life completely. At my previous job I had no plans for my future but since I’ve started this apprenticeship I’ve realised what a great career I’ve got ahead of me.”
