Wisbech students took part in a ‘graduation’ ceremony at Cambridge to celebrate a range of achievements.

Ninety-one Thomas Clarkson Academy Year 7-9 students who have shone outside the classroom in a range of sports and arts activities took part in the ceremony at Wolfson College, Cambridge, as part of the Children’s University.

Lisa Ling, vice principal at Thomas Clarkson, told the students: “I am so proud of each and every one of you for your achievements and also for the attitude you have towards embracing new and varied opportunities.

“For me, what happens outside of the classroom is as important a learning journey as what happens inside it. You are true ambassadors for this vision.”

The Children’s University is an organisation focuses on voluntary learning activities outside the normal school day - it could be before school, during lunchtime, after school, during weekends or holidays.

The Children’s University in the United Kingdom began as a Saturday school project in Birmingham in the early 1990s.
