A woman has died following a bungalow fire on Breton Avenue, March.
Emergency services were called to the bungalow at around 9.50am yesterday (June 6) and a woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police cars, fire engines and police scientific support unit vehicles remained parked outside the bungalow for several hours after the fire.
A police spokesman said: “We were called to Breton Avenue, March at about 9.50am yesterday (June 6) with reports of a bungalow on fire.
“Sadly, a woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The fire is being treated as non-suspicious and the death has been passed to the coroner.”
Station Commander Gavin Hammond, from Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: “Early indications from a fire investigation showed cause of fire was a heating element used for heating liquid setting alight a carpet.”
An eyewitness, who lives nearby, said: “There were a couple of fire engines and four or five ambulances about half way down the road at around 10.10am.
“I live on Worsley Chase and we had a power cut for about 15 minutes at the same time. I don’t know if it is linked.”
