A WOMAN has died three weeks after a crash involving a lorry being driven by a 53 year-old man from Wisbech.

Police are investigating the collision in Peterborough following the death of Margaret James, 75, of Willington Road, Kirton, Boston.

She was a passenger in a car that was in collision with a lorry on the A1139 Fletton Parkway westbound, close to the junction with A1260 Nene Parkway, at about 8.45am on Tuesday, January 8. One report suggested the woman’s car hit a tree after colliding with the lorry.

She suffered minor injuries and was taken to Peterborough City Hospital before being discharged. However, she was admitted to Pilgrim Hospital, Boston, on January 11 and died on January 20.

The Wisbech lorry driver was not injured and a 69-year-old Lincolnshire man, who was driving the car, received minor injuries.

Sergeant Nigel Jennings, who is investigating, said: “I would urge anyone who saw the crash, or either of the vehicles just prior, to get in touch.”

Anyone with information should contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101.

Fire crews helped to cut Mrs James from the car before she was taken to hospital.
