DRUNKEN Whittlesey woman Sharon Andrew was "paralytic" when she left the Nags Head pub to drive home - and staff were so worried that they called the police.

Andrews, who had been drinking whisky and coke all night after a row with her boyfriend, had fallen down in the car park, and staff were too concerned for their own safety to stop her.

"They feared they might be run down," prosecutor Helen Harmeston told Fenland magistrates on Tuesday.

Police officers found Andrew sitting in her car on her driveway and she refused to give a breath test. She struggled when arrested, and had to be handcuffed.

At the police station, Andrew, who suffers from multiple sclerosis, refused to give a breath sample, and was put in a cell to sober up.

She later told police she had been paralytic and could not remember much about the evening.

Twenty-two-year-old Andrew, of Kings Delph, admitted failing to provide a specimen of breath on January 28.

Solicitor Kay Younis said Andrew had been going through problems a the time of the offence, and had argued with her boyfriend.

She was diagnosed with MS in 2000, and needed to drive to various hospital appointments.

Andrew was given an interim driving ban and sentencing was adjourned until March 1 for a report to be prepared.
