PRESIDENT Valerie Ware welcomed members to the January meeting in the Community Centre. Secretary Janet Groves read a letter of thanks from Joe and Ann Johnson for the Christmas gift. Names were taken for a 'Try it at Whist' on January 27 and a 'Try it Scrapbook Day' on March 16. The New Year meal will be on January 16 and arrangements were made for members who wish to go to West Walton WI's party on January 18. A birthday pen was presented to Josie Bowd. Speaker was Anne Barnes on the art of make-up through the ages. She was thanked by Barbara Tinsley. The monthly competition was words from the human body. Points awarded were: Five, Jackie Reed; four, Phyliss Balls, Valerie Ware, Ann Balls, Maureen Kitchen, Mollie Rollins; three, Barbara Gray, Margaret Clowes. The Flower of the Month entrants all received five points. They were Margaret Clowes, Jackie Reed, Barbara Gray, Valerie Ware, Phyliss Balls, Mollie Rollins. For the social half-hour Gill Kirby organised a London and district railway stations quiz. Winners were Valerie Ware, Barbara Tinsley, Celia Crawshaw and Barbara Gray.
