THE February meeting of the Women's Institute was held in the Community Centre on Tuesday evening. The president, Valerie Ware, welcomed everyone including two visitors. Following the business meeting the Federation letter was read. Names were taken of members wishing to take part in the darts and scrabble evening, and a team will take part in the quiz held by Friday Bridge WI. The East of England show competition was also discussed and dates for outings.

Birthdays for the month were Harriet Cramner, Elsie Goult and Alwynne Elwood. The demonstrator for the meeting was Pauline Melead of Bamber Nurseries and she made Wilton Icing for cakes. She was thanked by Janet Groves.

The monthly competition was for a decorated sponge cake, points were as follows Valerie Ware, Mollie Rollins 5; Jackie Reed, Maureen Kitchen, Margaret Clowes 4. The Flower of the Month points were 5 each to all entries - Valerie Ware, Linda Cragg, Phyliss Balls, Margaret Clowes, Ann Balls and Mollie Rollins.
