INSTEAD of their usual monthly meeting in Tower Hall, members visited Othello's Bakery, Long Sutton, and watched proprietor Richard Green making Viennese fingers, chocolate rum truffles and sultana scones which they tasted with a cup of tea or coffee in the cafe. President Rosemary Bowman thanked Richard for his generosity. During a short business session Audrey Smith, Connie Gravett and Hazel Heeley received birthday cards and gift packs of hand-made soap. There were also congratulations for Audrey and Joyce King for winning the recent Federation carpet bowls tournament. It was announced there are to be changes in the publicised programme for October and November. Christine Austin will give her flower arranging demonstration on Monday, October 9, and on Monday, November 13, Mrs Sandra Mina will speak about the work of the Brooke Hospital for Animals.
