THE latest meeting was an open meeting with husbands and friends and was well supported.
Jonathan Shanklin of the British Antarctic Survey gave a graphic illustrated talk about life in Antarctica, the ozone layer, global warming and its predicted effects in years to come.
He was thanked by Mrs E Roberts. Raffle prizes were won by C Connors, J Philpott, Q Quincey and J Tyler. A letter was read from R Hurst thanking members for their donations of writing materials for Liberian schools. Birthday cards were given to S Hird, J Fleming and K Upchurch.
Competition results:- Snowman made from cotton wool, six points S Gilbert, five G Lindsey, four J Nicholas, M Bashford and S Skeels, three D Old, A Quince and C Pickering. The next meeting will be on October 5.
