THE president, Mrs Frauke Adkins, welcomed members and three visitors to the February meeting and introduced the evening speakers, Mrs Sue Stephenson and her "long-suffering" husband Brian - the long-suffering aspect being explained in Sue's story of married life.
Sue, it appears, orchestrated all the plans and Brian was destined to carry them out.
The couple began in a large house with a small garden, but when their family grew up they moved to a small bungalow on an acre of land. The larger garden at Puddle Paddock, in Gedney, is a haven for various animals, some ornamental or retired. Sue and Brian also grow plants for sale and visitors are welcome.
The couple were thanked for a most enjoyable and entertaining programme by Mrs Margaret Pepper.
Members' competition for the month was the letter P and the winner was Mrs Vera McColl 2 Mrs Ruth Hughes and 3 Mrs June Collison. June also won the bloom of the month competition and earlier in the meeting she distributed W I badges to members celebrating February birthdays.
Tea and coffee was served by Mrs Pam Clarke.
