AT the May meeting, president Mimi Bashford welcomed members and one visitor. Birthday cards were given to Dena Old, Linda Cotterel and Shirley Skeats. Details were given of forthcoming events and eight members will be going to a quiz at West Walton on June 12. Some members will be going to a quiz at March on July 16. Final arrangements have been made for the outing to Walpole St Peter Flower Festival in June. The resolution for the annual meeting in London is to request the Government to reconsider their proposal to close community hospitals. All members were in favour of their retention. A Bring-and-Buy stall in aid of club funds was run by Elaine Blackburn and Janice Bell.
After refreshments, June Roper read two poems and Margaret Pickering held a quiz.
The competition was for four butterfly cakes. The raffle was won by Linda Cotterel and Karen Upchurch.
The next meeting, June 5, St Andrew's Hall, 7.30pm, will be the president's social evening.
