NELLIE’S community cafe in Sutton hosted a Worlds’s Biggest Coffee morning event on Friday, raising nearly 600 for Macmillan Cancer Care.
The community room at Scott Court was packed with visitors who enjoyed a variety of home made cakes, bacon sandwiches and snacks.
A marquee in the grounds was needed to accommodate the large crowd of visitors who turned out to support the event, and a raffle and tombola were held to raise extra funds.
Cafe volunteer Elaine Prenzlau said: “We were thrilled to raise 574.61 for the charity; we would like to thank everyone for their tremendous support.”
Nellie’s community cafe runs twice a month in the village. It will be open from 10am to 2pm on Wednesday October 10 at the community room next to the village school, and from 10am to 2pm on Friday October 28 at Scott Court.
