ALL guns were blazing and canon roared as the Confederacy took on the Unionists in a re-enactment of the American Civil War at Doddington over the Bank Holiday weekend.

The afternoon of living history and re-enactment consisted of Blazing Infantry, Crashing Artillery and Thundering Cavalry at the Washbrook Farm venue.

The American Civil War Society is the largest UK American Civil War Re-enactment Society in the UK and has been voted 'Best Large Re-enactment Group in the UK' by Military Illustrated Magazine. It was formed in 1975 and provides an absorbing hobby for its members, old and young, male and female.

The society gave a colourful, noisy spectacle which was both entertaining and informative.
