Children’s charity EACH has decided to drop its annual Christmas Santa Run through March because of lack of support.
The charity says that although last November’s event raised around £1,300 “it was a bit disappointing compared to the year before”.
The inaugural run in 2012 in aid of the East Anglia Children’s Hospices attracted more than 100 Santa ‘impersonators” but numbers were down last year and has prompted the decision to drop the event for 2014.
Fund raising co-coordinator Beccy Turner said: “We have been hoping for more sponsorship money to come in but we haven’t had much since Christmas.
“We’re sending out a letter this week to all participants to thank them for taking part and to chase up sponsorship so fingers crossed that we may get a bit more.”
She said that after “lots of discussion we have sadly decided not to ahead with the Santa Run in March this year.
“The 2013 event was not as well supported as the previous year and the amount of expenditure cannot really justify us continuing with the event.”
However she thanked everyone who had worked hard to provide the event in March and she was confident other fund raising activities could be help to raise awareness and funds in the area.
