TALENTED number crunching students at Cromwell Community College have been celebrating their success in a national maths competition.

The youngsters have been presented with certificates after completing the UKMT Junior Challenge, with year eight pupil Owen Frear taking top honours for the best score in the school.

The challenge is aimed at the top third of pupils in Year 8 or below, with the top 40 per cent of students nationally receiving gold, silver or bronze certificates.

Certificate winners were: Year 8: gold, Owen Frear (best in year and best in school), Joshua Birchall; silver, Teri Parsonage; bronze, William Snow, Ashleigh Patterson, Megan Roberts, Teonie Peyton, Rebecca Chelton, Chloe Davies, Samuel Bunting, Georgie Catling, Megan Lemmon.

Year 7: silver, Branden Hedley (best in year), James Wayman, Nathan Savage (George Savage); bronze, Rane Blue, Casey Fitzgerald, Connie Snow, Isaac Hayes, Sophie Frear.
