Children at a Fenland primary school worked together to raise money for a charity of their choice on Friday.

Youngsters at Alderman Jacobs Primary School in Whittlesey thought of different ideas to raise funds for a number of different groups on the day. Year 4 children baked and sold cakes for Scope for Cerebral Palsy, Year 6 children completed a sponsored swim and some pupils paid to dress up.

The fundraising day has so far raised 622.80 for a number of groups including Cancer Research UK and the RSPCA.

Margaret Sargent, the school’s head teacher, said: “The generosity of our school community always surpasses my expectations, and today was no exception. “As a health promoting School I did, however, have to limit the number of cakes teachers would buy and consume! All of the teachers were very proud of the children’s participation on raising money for the different charities.”
