Premier League referee Mike Jones was the guest as young officials from across Fenland gathered for the Peterborough Referees Association’s ninth Young Referees Day.
Jones, who has overseen almost 200 top-flight matches, visited five schools, refereed at a primary schools festival and spoke to youngsters at the event which is the largest of its kind in the UK.
He stopped off at Park Lane Primary School in Whittlesey before going on to Sir Harry Smith Community College where he hosted a tournament featuring youngsters from Alderman Jacobs, Coates, New Road and Park Lane.
Organiser Robert Windle, said: “We are very grateful to Mike Jones and the Professional Game Match Officials Ltd (PGMOL) for a full day of Premier League input and also The Referees Association Youth Council and Burnt House Wind Farm Fund for their support which enabled us to have over 800 students and referees involved.”
