Park Ladies capped their sensational rise in county-wide football by lifting the S-Tech Women’s Championship South title after trouncing Riverside Rovers Reserves 4-0 in their final match of the season.

The March-based club travelled to Peterborough knowing only a win would be enough to see them crowned as champions, and they sealed the title in style with a scintillating final day display.

Erin Powell, who was in fine form, kicked Park’s title celebrations off in the fifth minute when she finished emphatically after some neat work from Casey Ward.

Park’s terrific start was made even better just four minutes later when Powell powered in a fine finish to double her tally.

Powell’s stunning start was capped on 15 minutes when she grabbed her hat-trick goal; steering the ball home from the right to bring her tally up to eight for the season.

Rattled, Riverside grew into the game in the second period and applied more pressure, but Park mopped it up and soon bagged a fourth through Casey Ward, who finished well after a mazey run.

Superb defending from Ellie Coleman, Brooke Anderson, Gemma Hutton and Abby Deighton ensured that Park would keep a clean sheet in their final game, and the full time whistle was met with rapturous celebrations by 50 Park fans who took the trip to Peterborough to watch their side.

Park’s title win means they now have Premiership football to look forward to next season - a feat made even more impressive by the fact that it was Park’s first season in the S-Tech league - and manager, Rob Mitchell, was full of praise for his side.

He said: “I’m absolutely ecstatic and proud of the team and everything they’ve achieved in their first season at adult football. It has been fantastic to see the new players grasp our ethos and become part of our success.”

The Park boss is looking to keep his side up in their first ever Premiership campaign, and is hoping to bring in some new players by hosting an open training session next month.

“Next season will be tough and we’ll need to add some depth to our squad,” said Mitchell.

“We’ll be aiming to avoid relegation in our first season in the Premiership and then push on from there. We’ll be holding an open training session on June 30 at 7pm at the Wimblington memorial field to see if we can attract some experienced players to help us next season.”
