IT was a good weekend for all but one of March’s hockey sides as every team won apart from the thirds who got thumped 13-1 at Newmarket.
East Men’s Hockey League - Division Two North
Ipswich-East Suffolk 2 March 4
March’s title charge continued with a brace from centre-back and man of the match Ed Batt in a see-saw encounter. Mark Patrick and Ashley Welland scored the side’s other goals. March host already relegated Spalding at Neale-Wade tomorrow with just two points separating the top three sides. Push-back: 2.30pm
East Men’s Hockey League - Division Five North-West
Newmarket 13 March III 1
March were given a harsh lesson at table-topping Newmarket with Simon Laws’ goal offering scant consolation for a side who also lost Dan Shirley to a suspected broken thumb.
