CAMBRIDGESHIRE were unable to end 48 years of cricketing hurt as Devon became Minor Counties Champions in March today.
March Town’s ground The Avenue hosted the four-day showcase match with Tyler Phillips making an appearance at his home ground as Cambridgeshire’s 12th man.
Devon hit 228 in their first innings with Cambridgeshire posting 182 all out in reply.
The visitors went into the final day with a lead of 227 setting Cambs 242 for victory.
However, the home side imploded for a paltry 72 which secured Devon their first Minor Counties Championship since 2004.
