WISBECH Squash Club has become the latest in the country to be named as an approved mini squash centre.

This week, the sport's governing body, England Squash, has sent notification that the Wisbech club has met the selection criteria to coach and play mini squash.

Faye Kowalewsky, a club coach and mini squash development officer, said: "It is great news and it is just part of our commitment to improving the facilities at the club and making the sport available to more people.

"Mini squash is specifically designed for younger players and it allows them to learn the rules and develop their basic skills before moving up to squash."

To qualify for mini squash accreditation, a club must adhere to the sport's format, properly advertise forthcoming events and have at least two level one, CRB checked coaches.

Faye and fellow coach, Roger Kay will now devise a coaching schedule.

The club has introduced junior coaching sessions on Saturdays and club nights on Thursdays.
