THE SUMMER has barely begun but March Town United manager Brett Whaley has started a mini-revolution both on and off the GER pitch.

The appointment of Jamie Weston as reserve team manager and John Treliving and Tony Russell at the helm of the youth squad signals Whaley's intention to shake-up the Hares' coaching set-up.

And Whaley believes that his appointment of an assistant manager in the coming weeks will also benefit the club.

He said: "I want to get the assistant manager heavily involved in coaching and to work closely with the reserve and youth team coaches.

"The club needs players in all age groups and we must start to develop a system where young, local talent is developed through the club from youth level to first team level."

And there have been changes on the pitch, with Whaley securing the services of three new players.

Former Wisbech Town midfielder Adam Weston, 26, has agreed terms with March, as has his younger brother, Luke, 23, a centre-forward who left Wisbech to play at Crowland.

And 23-year-old central defender, Dan Gilbert, who played under Whaley at Yaxley last season, has also agreed to join March.

The Hares manager said: "All three are good, young, local players who will certainly add to the quality of the squad.

"Adam is a creative midfielder who I hope can forge a good partnership with Luke Pepper in central midfield. It is really important that we get our midfield shape just right."

"Luke Weston is a striker who I think will pose a problem for defences next season, and Dan is a very good defender who has an excellent attitude.

"He was out for a while with an injury but he came back last season and just got better and better."

But Whaley is keen to point out that the new signings do not signal the beginning of an influx to the club.

He said: "I am keen to keep the players we already have and not bring too many new signings in to the club.

"It is all about striking the right balance to improve the quality of the squad."

And Whaley has been quick to outline his ideas to the existing March squad.

He said: "I have been talking to everyone at the club and holding training sessions with the players to signal my intentions for next season.

"I want to bring back some of the March lads who have left the club and the members of the current squad have told me that they are happy to stay at the club if I stick to my plans."

He added: "We have had some interest from clubs wishing to sign Luke Pepper and Marc Welcher, but they are March lads and they have signalled that they want to stay.
