March man Mark Cross is inviting the people of Fenland to step up to the oche again this year to help him hit a fundraising bullseye during his annual charity Darts day.

A Celtic shirt signed by their European Cup-winning squad of 1967.

Mr Cross, secretary of local darts leagues in March for 25 years, has organised the bumper days of arrows action which promises a day of competitions, auctions and, of course, darts.
The G.E.R. Sports Club in March will be hosting the event for a sixth year this Saturday, with all proceeds being donated to the Oncology department at Peterborough City Hospital, which treats local people for cancer and carries out much needed research into the disease at a local level.
Doors will open at 11.30am, with draws for the competitions taking place at 1pm, with play starting shortly afterwards.
The darts events will include Cricket Triples; Pairs (darts players playing with non-darts players) and singles, alongside annual singles and pairs cups.
Mr Cross’ annual darts days have raised over £30,000, with funds being used to buy an ultra sound machine for the Chemotherapy Department, comfortable chairs to enhance the treatment of both chemotherapy and radiotherapy patients and enabling nurses to enjoy training courses that they otherwise would not have been able to attend.
Darts action isn’t the only form of entertainment the day will bring, as signed, and often rare sporting memorabilia will go under the hammer in a grand auction.
Lots, which this year include a football boot signed by Manchester United and England star Wayne Rooney, a framed photograph signed by Frank Bruno and Mike Tyson and a Boxing glove signed by the legendary Manny Pacquiao, will be sold to the highest bidder, with all money raised being donated to the cause close to Mr Cross’ heart.
