Former England and Ashes winning skipper Mike Gatting turned on the style when speaking at the March Town Cricket Club annual dinner last Friday night.

Gatting, who led England in 23 of his 79 test appearances, told the town talents stories of touring life with the national side with the likes of Ian Botham, David Gower, Geoffrey Boycott, Alan Lamb and Graham Gooch.

The 31st annual dinner was attended by 60 guests and marked the beginning of the club’s season, which kicks off on April 8 when the first XI take on Long Sutton in a pre-season friendly.

March’s Tucker Gardner Division one campaign begins a fortnight later with a clash with Histon.
