PETERBOROUGH Athletics Club and its Fenland athletes won their third successive meeting at the East Anglian League meeting at St Ives on Sunday.

March brothers and field event specialists, Dan, Martin and Roger Tinkler led the way with more exceptional performances.

Dan won the senior shot with 13.93m and the B string javelin with a superb throw of 51.77m. He also finished second in the discus with 29.9m.

Younger brother Martin won the under-17 javelin when he threw 37.43m and finished second in the discus with a throw of 41.49m.

And youngest sibling Roger won the B string discus with his throw of 21.64m.

Thorney's Jenny Cade was also impressive in the field and a throw of 17.94m put her at the top of the list in the senior javelin.

She then finished second in the discus with 19.8m and fifth in the shot with 7.06m.

Sharon Knowles, from Pondersbridge, continued Peterborough's domination of the field when she won the under-17 B string long jump with a leap of 3.72m.

Whittlesey athletes produced a series of important results. Amber Kenny finished second in the under-13 girls shot with 5.29m.

Tom Paddock threw 11.45m for fourth spot in the B string under-15 boy's discus. A hammer throw of 10.79m was good enough for fifth and he then launched the shot to 5.41m and fourth place in the B string event.

Charlotte Kenny ran 6:00.3 in the under-17 B 1,500m to finish second and then came fourth in the B javelin with 5.68m.

Also in the under-17 age group, Bethan Saunders won the 800m B race in a time of 2:28.2 and crossed the line in second when running 46.6s in the 300m.

Peter Godly was in consistent form and a third place run of 15.5s in the under-15 hurdles was followed by a leap of 8.43m and third in the triple jump B.

Gemma Bays' long jump of 4.28m earned her third in the A string competition and she also came third in the B shot with a throw of 5.38m.

Laura Arnold won the under-15 B string 800m with a fine run of 2:35.0 while Billy Paddock ran well in the under-13 100m and Maiya Greenwood recorded a time of 5:57.1 in the under-13 1,500m.

March's Nicholas Stone was the first to cross the line in the under-15 B 1,500m when he ran 5:01.8 and distance expert, Glen Watts, also from March, won the senior B 3,000m in a time of 9:13.9.

Manager Dave Bays said: "The competition is getting tougher but we have the quality in the squad, together with a great team spirit, that will hopefully allow us to succeed in this league.
