THE batsmen were on top for March first team's Tucker Premier match against Burwell on Saturday - and both sides had to be content with a draw.

Burwell lost a couple of early wickets as Ed Rodgers (2-71) and Peter Hills (1-53) made an immediate impression to leave the visitors on 32-2.

However, further wickets were difficult to come by as Cross (91), Knight (62 not out) and Jones (63) pushed Burwell to a good score of 255-5 from 48 overs.

Rodgers also impressed with the bat to score 56 not out and although he received good support from the March top order, including Shardul Brahmbhatt (38), Andrew Mills (34) and Hills (32), March came up 41 runs short to finish on 214-4.

March II fought hard at Foxton in the CCA Senior Division One match on Saturday but were eventually beaten by four wickets.

John Wallis scored a fine half-century as the visitors pushed on to reach 177-5 from 45 overs.

Richard Green (5-46) put Foxton on to the back foot and with the home side on 73-4, March would have been hopeful of a victory.

However, Farnum (44) and Benn (60 not out) got the home side back on track and Foxton reached their target after 40.1 overs.

In the Fenland Trophy on Sunday, March II had no answer to a scintillating spell of bowling from Chatteris' Andy Wool.

The March bowlers found the going tough against the home batsmen and Chatteris raced to 231-3 from 45 overs, largely thanks to a superb 91 not out from teenager Connor Cunningham.

And it was Wool who steered Chatteris to a comfortable 153- run victory when he returned stunning figures of 6-10.

March collapsed from 70-4 to 78 all out as Wool and Bishop (2-12) won the game inside 32 overs.

March III were awarded the points from their CCA Junior

Division Two game against Coton on Saturday after the visitors were unable to raise a side.

But the highlight of the weekend was certainly March IV's exciting victory at Isleham in CCA Junior Division Four.

Opener Bill Hilliard scored a superb 75 but the March total of 181-5 looked vulnerable.

And this certainly was the case when the Isleham opening partnership of Goff (52) and Blair (51) appeared to put the home side on track for victory.

However, March had other ideas and Greg Hulley (3-22), John

Hazelgrave and Andrew Wright (2-33) showed real character to reduce Isleham from 103-1 to 175 all out after 38 overs.
