The weekend saw the Frostbite final race, the Milton Keynes 20 mile Race and Rough Runner Half Marathon.

Fenland were out again this weekend across the UK in a number of events as the coldest snap had passed and the sun broke through the clouds to reveal a very cool 14 degrees Sunday morning.

The weekend saw the Frostbite final race, the Milton Keynes 20 mile Race and Rough Runner Half Marathon.

The friendly league race had 20 club members battling it out across muddy fields and puddles for first male and female.

The first male home was Tim Chapman with a time of 36:22 and not far behind was the club’s first female home Nicky Jennings in a time of 39:56.

These were close run battles as Richard Agger was just 4 seconds behind Tim and Carol Bowett just 30 seconds behind Nicky, Rod Sinnott followed Richard by just 14 seconds and Sarah Gauvin just 2 seconds aside Carol.

There was a further battle down the field with Derick Barsby and Jane Greenwood finishing with just 7 seconds between them.

Tony Foice-Beard, the club’s spokesman, said: “While we were sipping drinks and wiping the mud from our shoes, Aaron Petts was halfway through his London Tough Runner Half Marathon.

“This race starts in the grounds of Chiswick House, heading out to the river and then splitting off into two routes which you will run to complete the half marathon as you head to Chiswick House.

“Aaron completed the Half Marathon with a time of 2:01:00.”

As Aaron received his medal Jane Clarke, who will be running in the Manchester Marathon on April 8, in aid of the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity to raise money for the Alan Hudson Day Treatment Centre in Wisbech (Palliative Care Unit) had a further 7 miles to complete the Milton Keynes 20 miler.

Jane finished in a chip time of 3:09:08, overall position 536th out of 939, gender position 140th out of 365 and FV45 out of 70.
