March Town United have begun their search for a new manager.

Temporary boss Paul Blanchflower, who took over from Paul Crosbie in February, has been asked to apply for the post but the Hares board is widening its search and is inviting external applicants.

Chairman Phil White says the club is determined to avoid a repeat of this season’s bottom of the table Thurlow Nunn First Division finish next season.

He said: “We would like Paul Blanchflower to stay at the club and have invited him to apply for the role. I don’t know whether he will apply.

“We now know what’s going on off the field (the club has finally secured the lease to build a new clubhouse) so we need to concentrate on on the field matters.

“We need a three year plan so applicants will be asked about how they will move the club forward over that period.”

The Hares board will meet to discuss the managerial situation tomorrow and White hopes to make an appointment in the next couple of weeks.

He said: “We want to get things sorted as soon as possible to give the new manager a fighting chance for the new season.”
