Chatteris star Jordan Gill stretched his perfect professional record to 20 fights last Saturday.

The featherweight prospect enjoyed a points success against former Irish amateur champion Carl McDonald at the O2 Arena in London.

Irishman McDonald was a late change of opponent for Gill after intended rival, David Berna of Hungary, pulled out of the contest.

Gill won all six rounds during a smooth success on the undercard of stablemate Tony Bellew’s repeat win against David Haye.

Gill said: “The experience of boxing on such a big show will stand me in good stead for the big championship fights that are ahead in my career.

“I’m very pleased with a shut-out victory and I can see the things I’ve been working on are developing.

“I’m also really proud of the 20-0 record. It was always going to be a challenge to keep my unbeaten record after turning pro so young, but I’ve beaten everyone who has been put in front of me.

“The main thing is we managed to find an opponent after Berna dropped out and I’m very grateful that so many people came to support me as always.”

Gill is expected to fight for either the British or Commonwealth titles later this year.

He is currently taking part in a two-week camp in Dubai before going on to Japan as a sparring partner for Jamie McDonnell ahead of his world bantamweight title fight later this month.
