TALENTED boxing star Jordan Gill admitted he was relieved to be back in the ring after he breezed to success at the Braza on Friday night.

The Clubs for Young People (CYP) British Champion dominated Capitol’s Kester Paris-Jones, picking up a unanimous points victory with a classy display at March Amateur Boxing Club’s sold-out show.

The Chatteris ABC boxer said: “I needed that bout as it was only my second of the year - it was good to get rid of the cobwebs.

“I thought I boxed ok but he’s a top-class kid. Anybody can get in the ring and box a bum but I showed my class against a great boxer.

“I got caught a couple of times in the second round and ended up with a black eye but that’s not a bad thing. It keeps me on my toes. I got a good win and I can go into Saturday even more confidently.”

Gill, 16, is back in action in Saturday’s Junior Amateur Boxing Association quarter-finals in Brentwood, Essex. He will by joined at the event by March ABC’s Charlie Stevens and Danny Hedges.
