The competition was fierce at the Q Club as players battled it out for seven trophies at The Pet Shop March and District Pool League Finals Day.

Defending champion Connor Kelly (George Doddington B) won the last two frames to beat Luke Amps (Red Lion) 4-3 in the Under-21’s KO final.

The Seniors KO final was next, with last season’s League Singles KO champion Carl Brown (Braza A) taking on John Mellody (Legion B). After some good play from both players, Brown came out on top with a 4-1 victory.

The Team KO final started off well for Club Q Z, with them taking the first two frames through Chase Hinson and Mark Crosskill.

Defending champions Cock A then struck back to reel off the next three frames through Jimmy Parker, Richard Nixon and Grant Watson, to reach the halfway point of the best-of-10-frame match in the lead.

The second half started with a victory for Club Q Z’s captain Lee Hazeltine to level the scores, but Cock A were not to be denied. Captain Dale Parson, Jimmy Parker and Richard Nixon took the next three frames to give Cock A a 6-3 win.

Dale Parson and Grant Watson beat Warren Middleton and Kev Towell (both Braza A) 5-3 in the Doubles KO final.

Grant Watson saw off Jamie Jamieson in a final frame decider to win the Singles KO final 5-4.

Other competitions played on the day saw Jimmy Parker take the 9 Ball KO title with a final victory over Lee Hazeltine, and Dale Parson winning the Single Frame KO over team-mate Jamie Jamieson.

The Ladies KO Irene Middleton (Club Q XXX) took the honours in the Ladies KO final with a 4-2 win over Lisa Jones (Cock A).

The League Titles had already been decided before finals day. Cock A were crowned Division 1 champions ahead of Club Q Z, Club Q XXX were crowned Division 2 champions ahead of George Doddington B, and Station Hotel were crowned Division 3 champions ahead of Braza B.

Captain’s Cup honours in Division 1 went to Ian Lea (Club Q A), in Division 2 to Marcus Larham (Club Q XXX) and in Division 3 to Mark Miller (Anchor Wimblington).

Player Of The Season honours went to Dale Parson in Division 1, Connor Kelly in Division 2 and Mark Miller in Division 3.

Grant Watson managed to win virtually every competition he entered, both with his team and as an individual.

A league spokesman said: “Thanks must go to out-going league sponsor Rob Phipps of The Pet Shop March for his support of the league over the last two years, and to Ray Sawyer for the free use of Club Q for the day. “Unfortunately Rob couldn’t make it to finals day to give out the trophies, so the presentation was done by league chairperson Elaine Hooks.”
