A three-frame head start wasn’t enough for Chatteris snooker star Joe Perry after he fell 6-5 to current world champion Stuart Bingham in a thrilling Ladbrokes World Grand Prix semi-final encounter.

The 41-year-old from Chatteris entered the tie with Bingham in a rich vein of form - only dropping two frames all tournament - and raced into a three-frame lead on Saturday night in Lladudno (March 12).

Perry potted a break of 82 in the first frame before taking the next two, but Bingham showed why he is world champion by levelling it up at 3-3.

The Gentleman took the seventh frame with a superb long-range black, but Bingham fired back with a break of 97.

Perry then moved to within one frame of the final with a break of 53 in the eighth, before the 39-year-old found his form and bagged the final two frames without conceding a single point.
