A 95 per cent pot rate wasn’t enough to save Joe Perry from an early exit in the English Open.
The Chatteris cueman struck a second-frame break of 134 – the highest of the day at the Manchester tournament - but opponent Matthew Selt responded in style to storm to success in the final three frames, taking a 4-2 victory.
Selt, ranked 13 places below Perry, hit classy breaks of 99, 68 and 82 on route to his first round victory yesterday (October 10).
