Chatteris Town are hoping a new partnership with a Championship club will help them back on their feet after a disappointing season so far.

The Lilies, whose first team are sat third-from-bottom in the Kershaw Premier Division, have linked up with Norwich City, who are to help the club with its fundraising.

A club letter to supporters said: “Chatteris Town FC would like to thank all our loyal supporters for their continued support during these difficult times and we wish all those players that have left well with their new clubs.”

“We would like to assure you that all the committee are dedicated to the club and its future, new players are being found and we are now involved with Norwich City, who are very impressed with our facilities and are enthusiastic to help us raise funds and go forward.

“We are sure we can rely on your continued support to help us reach our centenary in three years’ time.”

It has been a season of change for Chatteris, who brought in manager Lea Jordan after the departure of Ashley Taylor at the beginning of the campaign.

Chatteris have also seen a number of key players leave West Street, including captain Ben Matthews and stalwart Gary Smith.

They have, however, been busy in the transfer market themselves, bringing in goalkeeper Dan Smith from Wisbech St Mary and striker Shane Green from March Town.

On the pitch, the Lilies – who were without a game last weekend – host another side that is struggling for form of late, Cherry Hinton, on Saturday (2pm).

The Cherries are on a run of three straight losses; the last a 5-1 home defeat to Brampton.
