MARCH Town Cricket Club held their annual dinner on Friday and Mick Newell, director of cricket at Notts CCC, and Freddie Foulds were the guest speakers at the pavilion.Newell, who played for Notts from 1984 to 1992 before becoming a coach, reflected on his playing career and his recent success in coaching Nottinghamshire to last season's county championship title.He also remembered his time coaching for Fenland District Council in the early 1990s and playing for his club side, Notts Unity Casuals, as a youngster against March's first XI.- At the club's annual meeting last week, the following were elected: President - Robert Sears; First team captain (Saturdays) - Jody Betts; First team vice-captain (Saturdays) - Chris Ringham; First team captain (Sundays) - Chris Ringham; First team vice-captain (Sundays) - Chris Peckett; Second XI captain (Saturdays) - Brian Toombs; Second XI vice-captain (Saturdays) - Chris Peckett; Second XI captain (Sundays) - Stephen Bedford; Second XI vice-captain (Sundays) - James Hilliard; Third XI captain - Nick Peck; Third XI vice-captain - Greg Short; Fourth XI captain - Glenn Hulley; Fourth XI vice-captain - Bill Hilliard; Honorary secretary - Stephen Wallis; Honorary treasurer - Alan Day; Honorary fixture secretary - Pat Ringham; Committee - D Alterton, N Lowe, J Lowe, L Mills, M Pooley, N Read, B Short, M Wallis, J West, N Alterton, B Adamson.- MARCH Town Cricket Club is organising girls coaching sessions on Sundays at Neale-Wade Community College.Under-13 coaching will take place from 9.30am -10.30am while over-13 coaching will run from 10.30-11.30am. During February, however, under-13 sessions will run from noon-1pm and over-13s from 1-2pm.The sessions are free and open to players of all experience levels.
