DAVID Wool was elected Chatteris Cricket Club's first team captain at the annual meeting in the Wenny Road Pavilion last week.He takes over from his brother Andy, who has enjoyed a very successful five years, in particular captaining winning Cambs Junior Cup sides twice in four years.Malc Perry was elected as second team Saturday vice captain and Alex Platt elected as Kit Steward. All other officers stay unchanged.The president, Mr John Childs, said that the club had a reasonably successful season and he was particularly pleased to see a number of youth players performing well in the senior teams.He thanked the ladies committee for their work throughout the season and looks forward to the coming season.The chairman, Phil Sole, reflected on the first team's success in the Cambs Junior Cup and the second team's promotion.The youth teams had continued to improve and he stated that more assistance was needed in looking after the youth teams to maintain their improvement.The chairman also thanked the committee for their support and said that regular social events are needed to raise funds for the club.The treasurer, Ernie Wool, reported that the accounts looked healthy but that there should be no complacency. It was stated that fund-raising activities must continue and that subscriptions and match fees should remain unaltered for the forthcoming season.
