CAPTAIN Ant Palmer sent bails flying on Saturday as Chatteris outclassed another side in Cambs Senior Division Two.

Palmer’s side remain joint-top after they bowled Balsham out for just 94 in a six-wicket drubbing.

No team has managed to reach 100 against Chatteris in the league this season, and Palmer (3-9), Andy Wool (4-25) and Joe Menarry (2-24) ensured that Balsham were not the first.

Palmer then starred with the bat, hitting a composed 58 to see his side home.

• CHATTERIS II are also setting the pace in their league after a six-wicket win against Haddenham.

The seconds went joint-top of Cambs Junior 2A with Saturday’s comfortable triumph.

Spinner Kev Felton (4-39) and swing king Mark Leach (3-15) did the damage with the ball as Haddenham folded for 133.

Cameron Brown (49) fell one run short of his maiden senior half century as Chatteris cruised to victory. The youngster was well supported by Paul Foster (31 not out).

MARCH TOWN CRICKET CLUB

• BATTING woes continue to haunt March as they slumped to their third consecutive league defeat on Saturday.

Chris Ringham’s side, who challenged for the title last season, have suffered a dismal start to this campaign and sit eighth in the Tucker Gardner Premier Division.

Their latest defeat came against Camden, who posted a meagre 125 after being put into bat on Saturday.

Ringham (3-30), Ryan Meyer (4-30), Tyler Phillips (2-29) and James Harradine (1-11) ripped through the Camden batting line-up to put March in control.

But the batsmen were unable to finish the job with Meyer (24), Matthew Vail (15) and Phillips (12) the only men to reach double figures in March’s total of 96 all out.

• IN-FORM Callum Young produced another fine all-round performance to inspire March II to a seven-wicket win over Camden II.

Young took 3-41 to help restrict Camden to 140-9 before hitting 66 to see his side home. Rob Moden (29) and John Wallis (31 not out) were also in good form with the bat.

• MARCH III won the battle of the Fenland third teams with a 60-run triumph over Wisbech III.

Aggressive batting set March on the road to victory over their neighbours, as they amassed 266 off their 40 overs.

Openers James Hilliard (88) and Dennis Furnell (51) punished the Wisbech bowling with Anthony Henson (22) and Lewis Hilliard (38) also in good form.

Brodie Ellis (4-55) was the most successful Wisbech bowler, with Ryan Van Waterschoot and Craig Pack also claiming two wickets apiece.

Wisbech managed a respectable 206-8 in reply with youngsters Ollie Short (57) and Harry Johnson (36) particularly impressive.

Lewis Hilliard (3-23), Jacob Gray (2-51), James Shepherd (2-36) and Manuj Patel (1-21) did the damage with the ball for March.

WISBECH TOWN CRICKET CLUB

• OPENING bowler Lyndon Waters had mixed fortunes as Wisbech II thrashed Cottenham by 80 runs.

The seamer took 6-43 to inspire the victory but spent his evening in Addenbrooke’s Hospital after slipping trying to catch a skied ball. The ball hit him just above the eye, leaving him needing stitches.

Dom Stannard had earlier hit a magnificent 80 as Wisbech posted 196-9. Matt Esser (39) and Adrian Clare (37) gave him good support.

• WISBECH first team secured their most dramatic victory of the season against Godmanchester at Harecroft Road. For the full story on their final-ball win see Friday’s Wisbech Standard.
