Crosbie disappointed with March Town United players after Team Bury thrashing

Sean White’s solo effort was the only highlight on a demoralising day for the club.

The scoreline could have been even worse had the hosts not hit the woodwork five times and stand-in goalkeeper James Mortlock not made a string of good saves.

A bemused Crosbie said the result left him “stunned” and accused his players of not working hard enough.

He said: “I was stunned by the result. I did not see it coming at all.

“They hit the bar five times and James (Mortlock) made some top saves so it could have been double that.

“We displayed a lack of concentration and workrate - very few of the players worked as hard as they could, which is really disappointing.”

Crosbie admits he will have to make tough decisions on the future of some of his players in the coming weeks.

He said: “We have got some talented players at this club but I’m going to have to make difficult decisions on some players.

“I need players who can compete for 90 minutes.”

The Hares have the weekend off - they are next in action at the GER on February 1 against high-flying Halstead Town, who are 12 places above them in fourth in the Thurlow Nunn First Division.

Crosbie says the week off has come at a good time and hopes the return of experienced players Paul Richardson, Gary White, Ryan Peacock and Max Flintoff in the coming weeks will help prevent a repeat of the horror run the Hares endured in the second half of last season.

He said: “We have not been able to train recently because of the weather so hopefully it improves and we can work on getting the right combinations on the field.

“Since we don’t have a game this weekend, we are aiming to give some of our returning players a run out in the reserves.

“I hope the return of these players and Luke Pepper, whose experience is crucial to us, will make a difference and prevent a repeat of last season.

“We need to sort ourselves out so we do ourselves justice against Halstead.”
