PHIL 'The Power' Taylor has once again proved far too good for the opposition after winning his 13th world championship title.

Taylor, 45, brushed aside Peter Manley 7-0 in the Ladbrokes.com World Championship final, thanks to another astonishing display of darts.

The defending champion was tipped to win the title by Kevin 'The Artist' Painter, from March, following his 5-1 quarter-final defeat to Taylor.

Painter, 38, who lost to Taylor at the same stage of the competition last year said: "Nobody will stop him in that form. I didn't play my best darts of the week but Phil was unbelievable.

"He will win this title at a stroll on that form. He puts the effort and practice in and it shows. I broke his throw to level at 1-1 but he came out winning legs in 12 and 13 darts.

He added: "The man is an awesome dart player and I don't mind learning a lesson like that from him."

Taylor, who hit 12 maximums and averaged 105.5 against Painter, said: "Kevin stuck in there and didn't give in but I've a massive chance of winning another title I won't let it go without a fight."

Taylor was certainly made to fight in a thrilling semi-final against Wayne Mardle. Mardle came back from 3-0 down to lead 4-3 and then 5-4 but Taylor battled back and eventually won the match 6-5.

However, it was a different story in the final and from the off, Taylor looked to stamp his authority on the match.

'The Power' needed just 40 darts to win the opening set and landed a maximum 170 check-out to win the second leg.

Manley put up a brave fight in the next two sets but his challenge faded and Taylor won the title with a whitewash.

Against Taylor, Painter was unable to reproduce the good performance he produced against Mark Dudbridge in the previous round.

After both players shared the first two sets, Painter destroyed Dudbridge with nine straight legs.

An average of 96 and improved finishing gave Painter a 4-1 win and set up the quarter-final clash with Taylor.
