CHAIRMAN Les Mills shows his delight after the home of March Town Cricket Club was named as ‘Ground of the Year’ in the Rutland & District Division One league.
The Avenue was judged to be the best ground in the Sunday league and the trophy was presented to Mr Mills by Rutland League President Colin Dale during a special dinner at Milton Golf Club on Saturday.
Mr Mills said: “My congratulations to all the groundsman and ground committee, who put in so many hours of hard work to keep the square and outfield in such excellent condition.”
The cricket club’s bar and lounge area has been given a major refurbishment thanks to a community grant from Waste Recycling Environmental Limited (WREN).
The club will officially open the renovated facilities at a cheese and wine evening on December 2 from 7.30pm.
