DODDINGTON Cricket Club's first team were left cursing the arrival of rain on Saturday, when they put themselves into a strong position in their CCA Senior Division Three match against Histon.

The efforts of the Doddington bowlers, notably James Harradine (5-45), Harshal Makwana (2-37) and Adam Costall (2-21), seemed to have put Doddington on track to victory when they dismissed Histon for just 122.

However, the rain arrived before the Doddington batsmen could get to the crease and the match was abandoned.

The second team's match at Pymoor was also called to a premature end as storms forced the teams to leave the field after 30 overs.

The only completed match was Sunday's friendly at Parson Drove.

Doddington reached a total of 164 thanks to contributions from Mathew Bamford (51 not out), Adam Costall (30) and Scott Bamford (35).

Costall then made an impression with the ball to take 5-6 and with the support of David Bamford (2-9), the home side were bowled out 36 runs short of their target.
