DODDINGTON Cricket Club had a Saturday to forget as both first and second teams lost their CCA League matches.

The first XI lost at home to Balsham in a high-scoring match. Antony Bamford and Ivan Burgess took three wickets each and Mathew Bamford picked up two but Balsham batted to an imposing total of 295 all out.

Doddington's Harry Vaheesan scored 62, James Harradine 61, Mathew Bamford 38 and Dan Martell 30 but the home side were dismissed 44 runs short of their target.

The second team lost their first game of the season at Pymoor and Martyn Bentley's 44 not out was the only highlight in a poor total of 77.

Pymoor lost only one wicket as they chased their target and reached it in 20 overs.

Sunday was a happier day and Doddington won a home friendly against Parson Drove.

Doddington batted well and reached 234-8 thanks to good innings from captain David Bamford (54), Jake Wenman (52), Martell (36), Ivan Burgess (25) and Pat O'Connor (27).

Wenman then returned 3-31 to help dismiss Parson Drove for 146 in 37.2 overs.

- CHATTERIS got back to winning ways in comfortable fashion at home to Cherry Hinton on Saturday.

Chatteris produced their best fielding display of the season to date as Cherry Hinton were restricted to 140.

Sixteen-year-old Alex Platt was excellent behind the stumps and bowlers Max Kelly (3-29), Ant Palmer (2-33), Jim Sole (2-49) and Andy Wool (1-21) did the damage.

Chatteris openers James Dawson (35) and Malc Perry (15) made a good start and youngsters Platt (26 not out) and Palmer (43 not out) guided the home side to victory.

Chatteris wrapped up a good weekend with a glorious win at home to rivals Wisbech.

The young Chatteris side dismissed Wisbech for 140, largely thanks to spinner Graham Newman who returned 4-26 and the back-up of Palmer and Wool, who both bowled 2-22.

Matt Hollis impressed as wicket keeper and then hit a superb 79 not out to put Chatteris in charge.

Steve Reed (22) and Palmer (27 not out) steered Chatteris to another win that keeps them in the chase for top spot.
