DODDINGTON’S Paralympic superstar Jonnie Peacock has won the BBC’s Disabled Sports Personality of the Year award for the East of England.
The 19-year-old beat his role model Oscar Pistorius and smashed the Paralympic record when he stormed to T44 100m gold at London 2012 in September.
He was pipped by Walpole St Andrew para-cycling legend Jody Cundy last year, but Peacock has now been crowned as BBC East’s 2012 Disabled Sports Personality of the Year at a ceremony at the University of Bedfordshire.
The sprinter thanked all the people who had supported him and said it was a great way to round off a “fantastic year”.
Peacock has now returned to full training after an operation on his ankle.
